Birch Room Chophouse should be your new go-to

Going to college in a small town like Wayne, means outside food sources can sometimes be scarce depending on your taste. If you’re looking for an urban, yet rustic chill café style restaurant, then Birch Room Chophouse should be your go-to. They opened last year and are already making their mark on my taste buds.

From childhood snacks to adult breakfast, my dream burger combines it all at Birch Room Chophouse. The peanut butter bacon burger is hands down mouthwatering and scrumptious.

Now for those of you who don’t have an acquired taste like mine, skip down to paragraph seven to read about the tried-and-true grilled chicken sandwich.

When I look at a burger, I want to be turned on in the “Man this burger looks sexy as heck I can’t wait to devour it” sense. If the burger doesn’t give me that vibe ya know it’s gonna be a dud, but come on how can a peanut butter bacon burger not give off that vibe?

The bun was “melt in your mouth” soft and for the visual people it had a swirl décor so you know they were getting down to business making this burger right. The inside of the bun was crisp from the grill, which I can definitely appreciate because who wants an awesome burger but a soggy bun from all the delicious juices?

The burger was topped with smooth peanut butter melted from two ingredients: Candied. Bacon. Now, as an adult in the state of Nebraska, I can legally make my own decisions and eating bacon for every meal would be my top priority, if my mom would let me. But the sweet and savory bacon honestly wraps the whole piece together with a punch of crispiness to the soft peanut butter burger.

My only complaint is that this food isn’t first date worthy. As a person who is very open about who I am and how I eat, this burger was just a tad over the top for me. My boyfriend of almost two years thought peanut butter juices all over my face was disgustingly cute, but as a first date I’m sure he would have run for the hills at the sight of that.

On the other hand, if you are looking for a safe bet, the grilled chicken sandwich is a classic choice that no one can ever go wrong with. All amenities were provided, but I chose to eat this baby plain Jane. The bun had cloud like fluffiness but was grilled on the inside securing the juicy chicken nectar.

Not only was this a healthier option, it’s first date appropriate and wasn’t dry. Having a good ratio between too juicy and too dry is a hard combo to create and the chicken sandwich was a happy medium of perfection.

Both courses were served with homemade style potato chips which I think are way better in flavor, crispness, and are healthier.

Birch Room Chophouse had a great atmosphere and to top it all off they leave Andes Mints (the best mints in the world) in a basket as you leave. My heart – I will totally be going back there again. Birch Room Chophouse is killing the burger game and I can’t wait to go back.

Tuesday through Saturday Birch Room Chophouse stays open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and then reopens from 5 to 10 p.m. to serve the supper crowd. On Sunday they only stay open during brunch hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Monday they’re closed.
