My entire life I have loved fashion. I’ve never had a friend who has stuck by my side closer than my dresses, shoes, hats, scarves, skirts and accessories. There is nothing like retreating into a closet and letting the arms of couture and clothes encompass you and inhaling a little of that trendsetting smoke. When all else fails, fashion picks me up, dusts me off and makes me look really fabulous while doing it.

(Although, I’ll admit I haven’t always been the best friend to them—leaving my laundry crumpled in the basket for days, possibly weeks, and scattering my shoes from here to Timbuktu. But, I mean, college life, amiright?)

Lately, I have been realizing more than ever how much time and money I spend on fashion, and how much time and money I would still have if it weren’t for fashion. Then I realized: some people save their money, and some people have a fabulous closet. You just can’t have both. Although sometimes I could probably spend my funds and minutes more wisely, I have never regretted a single purchase. Whoever said money can’t buy happiness hasn’t seen me after receiving my delivery from JustFab. After all, life is short and good shoes take you good places.

So, what better way to encourage my fashionista soul than indulging in a “Sex in the City” marathon and listening to advice from the first true fashion icon and pioneer: Carrie Bradshaw.

Here is a list of 15 trendy truths from Ms. Bradshaw that have helped me through my financial fashion hardships and will truly speak to your fashionista soul.

1. “I like my money right where I can see it: hanging in my closet.”

2. “When I first moved to New York and I was totally broke, sometimes I would buy Vogue instead of dinner. I felt it fed me more.”

3. “A wise woman skips the stock market and invests in her closet!”

4. “Women come to New York for the two L’s: labels & love.”

5. “Shopping is my cardio.”

6. “Hi, I’m not here right now, but my shoes are so leave them a message!”

7. “I will never be the woman with the perfect hair who can wear white and not spill on it.”

8. “I’m not afraid of heights. Have you seen my shoes?”

9. “I have this little substance abuse problem…expensive footwear.”

10. “Men I may not know, but shoes I know.”

11. “When one door closes, another shoe box opens!”

12. “When I want a ridiculously extravagant pair of shoes, I find a way to buy them.”

13. “Here lies Carrie. She had two loves and lots of shoes.”

14. I’ve spent $40,000 on shoes and have no place to live? I will literally be the the old woman who lived in her shoes!”

15. “The fact is, sometimes it’s hard to walk in a single woman’s shoes. That’s why we need really special ones now and then—to make the walk a little more fun.”
