Homecoming theme “announced”

Nick Ulrich, Staff Writer

The Wayne State College student council is one of the most important organizations we have on campus. Along with representing the student body of Wayne State, the council also organizes and funds Homecoming Week.

Part of these responsibilities is coming up with a creative theme, to inspire the students to get involved.

This year, in celebration of the 100-year anniversary of World War I, the student council has decided to name “The Horrors of the Great War” as the homecoming theme.

Students will, of course, be asked to dress up throughout the week and join in some of the special activities on campus. The dress-up is fairly simple:

Monday: Traditional USA World War I clothing

Tuesday: Traditional Red Cross clothing

Wednesday: Traditional French World War I clothing

Thursday: Pajama day!

Friday: Traditional German World War I clothing (MUST be accompanied by white flag)

Students can also look forward to some fun and exciting activities throughout the week.

Monday 6:00-10:30 — World War 1 Reenactment

Tuesday 0300-1600 — Invade Austria-Hungary

Wednesday 8:00-10:00 — Dr. Faux’s lecture on the impact of homecoming culture in European countries during the Great War

Thursday 8:00-8:00 — Pajama judging (must be present to win.)

Friday 6:00-10:00 — Throw stuff at Nazi’s (it’s not really relevant to World War I, but it just sounded fun)

So make sure to stop by for what sounds like one of the best homecoming weeks in Wayne State history!

Whether you’re interested in the historical aspect of it and want to show off your historically accurate outfit, or if you just want to hang out in your pajamas and think about Winston Churchill’s big beautiful face, there’s sure to be something to make you happy.

Don’t forget: The theme for the football game is bloody soldier, so make sure to get your ketchup packets ready!
