The New Wave of Bimbos

The “bimbo” is a label that has long been used to portray women in a derogatory manner. Women who are described as bimbos are vapid, dumb, and only concerned with their physical appearance. In media, bimbos are heavily sexualized and usually have blonde hair, spray tans, and a hyperfeminine look that may not be all natural. These women are thought to have no value other than their sex appeal. However, despite the demeaning origins of the bimbo, Gen Z has been leading the movement of reclaiming the word and turning it into something positive.

Chrissy Chlapecka, a self-proclaimed bimbo, has been using Tik Tok to create a safe space where “the girls, gays, and theys” can take part in a communal demonstration of hyper femininity while also spreading awareness about political issues. “ Hi. Welcome to Bimbo Tik Tok. You’re probably wondering how you got here. Are you a leftist who likes to have your tits out? Do you like to flick off pro lifers? Then this a place for you. Are you good at math? Are you good at reading? Well, then if you are, how?” says Chlapecka with a breathy voice.

The goal of the new generation of bimbos is to combat patriarchal values and make feminism more intersectional. The bimbo erases the false idea that being a feminist makes you masculine and conventionally unattractive. Ultimately, the bimbo’s newfound popularity indicates to a shift away from the belittling of femininity.

The Gen z bimbo includes all genders of radically leftist individuals who Chlapecka explains are “pro-sex work, pro-Black Lives Matter, pro-LGBTQ+, pro-choice, and will ALWAYS be there for her girls, gays, and theys.” Chlapecka has used her platform to spread anti-capitalism and feminist ideas in a satirical and entertaining manner.

The bimbo movement is not one that puts emphasis on appearance as the most important aspect of your self-worth. This movement is meant to encourage self-love, self-satisfaction, and sex-positivity. Chlapecka defends this idea by saying, “I don’t do this for the misogynistic male gaze, I do it for my gaze. And damn, I look good!

Misogynists once weaponized the term “bimbo”, to shame women who embraced their femininity. Femininity does not make one more or less intelligent. Bimbos are back and they are well informed, hot, and don’t care what society thinks of them. If you are anti-racist, support women, and embrace your femininity, you just might be a bimbo.
