Dedication ceremony for C. James and Barbara K. Kanter Student Center

Wayne State College will be holding a dedication ceremony for the newly named C. James and Barbara K. Kanter Student Center on Thursday, May 7, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. The Wayne community is invited to attend.

The Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees officially named the college’s student center in honor of Jim and Barb Kanter of Minneapolis, Minn., for their service and support of the college.

Barb Kanter graduated from WSC in 1976 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She serves as the secretary/treasurer of the Wayne State Foundation and was the recipient of the Wayne State Alumni Service Award in 2010. Jim is a graduate of Kearney State College. They are both trustees of the Wayne State Foundation and believe strongly in the value of a state college education.

The Kanters have financially supported many projects at WSC, including the Willow Bowl restoration, the WSC Conn Library renovation, the Alumni House renovation, the Barbara K. Kanter Endowed Scholarship, the Service-learning program and the general fund.

The NSCS Board of Trustees chose to honor the Kanters to recognize their major financial support and because they are individuals who bring honor to the college system with their values and work ethic.

Wayne State College is a proud member of the Nebraska State College System.
