The Wayne State College recreation center offers fitness classes every week Monday through Thursday. With classes designed for cycling, cardio, strength training and even mindfulness, the recreation center has something to offer everyone. These classes are generally beginner friendly and aimed at the general student population.
Classes offered include Buns and Bellies, Cycle 360, Cycling, Pilates, Refresh & Fit, Rhythm Ride, Spin & Sculpt, Strength and Yin Yoga. While not all of the same classes are offered year-round or every year, there are always different options.
Unlike private gyms, the WSC fitness classes are accessible to all students. All offered classes are free for WSC students, and the only requirement is that they must bring their student ID to get in. Class fees are already paid for students, and the rec center classes are just another opportunity that might make the addition of extra activity in the day easier than it seems.
As for the technical side of the process, it’s also nothing to worry about. Wildcats Online has resources and information regarding the time and type of each class. All fitness classes require advance sign-up, which can be done through the WSC Rec App or at wsc.innosoftfusion.com. The rec center requests that all sign-ups are done two weeks before the start date. The class times vary throughout the day and week, but they are primarily in the afternoon.
There are many more resources within the rec center. At the end of a fitness class there are plenty of other amenities to check out. For example, towels can be requested at the front desk, and lockers can be registered for at the front desk. There is even a sauna inside the locker room. The rec center and other related athletics facilities also include an indoor track, indoor turf area, multiple weight training and cardio rooms, basketball courts, pickleball courts, racquetball courts, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts and a fitness trail. The main idea behind the athletic facilities here at WSC is that there is no shortage of opportunities or diverse options.
The WSC fitness classes have something to offer every student. Participating in WSC fitness classes is a great way for students to stay active and relieve stress. With a variety of classes and times, plus access to extensive amenities, there truly is something for everyone at the rec center. Whether trying a cycling session, strength training, or mindfulness practice, students can take advantage of these opportunities to better themselves as well as their experience at WSC.
