KWSC-TV
KWSC-TV is the student-run television station available in Wayne and beyond. The station provides student-made sports, news, entertainment, and episodic television. The original content supports the educational needs of the mass communication program and the informational needs of the campus and Wayne community.
The production side of our studios allows students to create immersive, real-world productions including commercials, public service announcements, short films, music videos, documentaries, news features, instructional videos, and other work for portfolio use and competitions. Students learn in a simulated studio environment, full of the same equipment used in the industry. They gain practical hands-on experience as they work collaboratively under the guidance of an advisor to create an expertly produced final product. Students learn budgeting, scheduling, project development and distribution, allowing them to gain experience needed to work in television production in a variety of fields.
Join the crew
Students in the Electronic Media, Sports Media, Journalism and Film departments, among others, start taking broadcast television production courses and workshops during their freshman year as part of the core requirements of the program. Non-majors may also take these courses or workshops as electives. While taking the workshop, students serve as the crew and student managers for KWSC-TV. The advisor serves as a facilitator for the programming and provides overall production and management support. KWSC-TV partners with other academic departments and community organizations to provide unique news, sports and entertainment programming.
