As the old saying goes, winning fixes everything.

The Wayne State men’s basketball team found that to be true this past weekend.

The WSC Wildcats’ first win against the Winona State Warriors since the 2005 season eased a lot of stress, according to their coach.

“The guys were elated that all this year’s hard work and effort helped them notch a big stress reliever,” head coach Brian Dolan said.

Focusing on daily improvements instead of overall record is the focal point of this team. The wins come in accordance, he said.

“The relationships that I make with the kids are wonderful,” Dolan said.

Dolan is in the process of making these relationships with eight new faces on this year’s roster.

The win that happened Saturday in Rice auditorium was a nail-biter against conference foe Winona State.

Wayne State led much of the game, but finally won the game holding the lead, instead of trying to chase down a deficit.

Dolan’s squad looks to keep that winning mentality when they visit the Minot State Beavers Friday night. One thing is for sure: these Wildcats are still hungry.
