WSC Humor Competition, April 14
March 30, 2022
Wayne State College will be having a humor competition April 14 from 4:30-6 p.m. in the Kanter Student Center.
WSC’s Student Health and Counseling will be hosting the upcoming competition as part of their Happy and Healthy Hour, Student Counselor Ciera Afrank said. The humor competition is open for all of WSC to participate in.
Since April is National Humor Month, SHAC thought a humor competition would be an appropriate way to celebrate.
“Laughter has been indicated to lower stress, increase optimism, improve sleep, ease pain, and boost the immune system,” Afrank said.
SHAC also sees this as a great opportunity for individuals to connect on the shared experiences of college life at WSC.
Although SHAC has had similar events in the past, this is their first time hosting a humor competition.
“I hope the competition is a success so we can make it a regular occurrence,” Afrank said. “All forms of original submissions are welcome.”
Whether it be memes, videos, art and so on, SHAC just asks for submissions to be respectful. Individuals can submit up to five pieces of their creative and comedic work.
At the Happy and Healthy Hour Humor Gallery, students will have the chance to vote on the submissions they find most comical. To be entered into the humor competition and have work displayed, please send submissions to [email protected] by April 11. If anyone would like to perform their submission in person, please contact the email previously listed. The top three submissions will be awarded prizes.
Afrank is looking forward to seeing what our students, faculty, and staff will come up with.
“We have so many bright, creative, and hilarious minds on this campus,” Afrank said, “so I am excited to highlight those qualities and share in the laughter!”
