WSC begins annual Scholar’s Day
Passionate young learners packed the Frey Conference Suite to get a glimpse of Wayne State College.
On Monday, WSC’s Scholar’s Day was in full effect.
Senior high school students from surrounding areas invaded campus to see if WSC would become their home for the next four years.
“It was a pretty outstanding turnout,” Dr. Deb Whitt, Honors Director, said.
During the day, the students had the chance to meet one another based on a shared birthday month.
After several speeches from faculty and WSC President Curt Frye, honors projects were presented by WSC alum Laura Burtwistle and Kelly Weber. Burtwistle’s project was a photographic history of WSC and Weber’s was a poetry analysis.
Soon after, the WSC Black and Gold Show Choir performed for the students. As the festivities came to a close, Dr. Todd Young offered to take students on tours of the Fred G. Dale Planetarium.
“I would like to thank all the faculty, administration and staff as they were a key to the success,” Whitt said.
