Wayne State College is hosting its Spring Career and Internship Fair Wednesday, Feb. 25 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Industrial Technology Career Fair Thursday, Feb. 26 from noon to 2:30 p.m. in the Kanter Student Center.  

The fairs provide students with an opportunity to network and look for internships, connect with employers who have shown an interest in hiring Wayne State College students and look for job opportunities after college. WSC Career Services Coordinator Molly Gardner suggests that students in attendance bring printed copies of their resume to give to employers.  

“The purpose of having the fair is definitely to bring opportunities to students and help them connect with employers,” Gardner said. “We know it can be difficult sometimes for students to get their names out there, get their resumes out there, and so this really provides an opportunity of bringing employers to campus who are eager to work with our students.” 

 When attending the fair, attendees can scan a QR code with links to employers in attendance, complete with a sorting option by 12 different career clusters to help students find employers connected to the field they are interested in.  

WSC freshman Abby Young would suggest that students research links of businesses that will be at fairs related to their major ahead of time in order to have the greatest potential to network with businesses at the fair one would be interested in working for. 

 “I think utilizing the fair map, that can help you manage your time at the fair, and really kind of help you narrow down maybe who to get started with,” Gardner said. 

 The career fair can help not only with looking for jobs after graduation, but also for opportunities for students while in college.
