The Office of the Texas Governor Greg Abbott said, “Winter weather in Texas is no joke and can bring dangerous conditions like freezing temperatures, ice sleet, and snow.”
With winter conditions being so dangerous, it is important to remember winter weather safety tips: keep your vehicle healthy, check battery, fluid levels, tire pressure, and start your car regularly. It is also important to store a flashlight, first-aid kit, tool kit, blankets, and snacks in your car in case of emergency.
It can also be helpful to monitor the weather conditions in your area. If the roads are icy, slow down and add extra weight to the back of the car such as sandbags. If a storm just occurred, be mindful of fallen trees, powerlines, or trash scattered across the road. It might be best to avoid travel altogether if roads are icy and snowy.
