Within the past couple months, several rock’n’roll icons have begun to pass away. Some of the biggest were Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys, Ace Frehley of Kiss, and Ozzy Osbourne of Black Sabbath. Following these deaths, many rock bands have announced tours going through 2026, including Rush, Duran Duran, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foreigner, Journey, Mötley Crüe, and many more.
Although these tours are great and it’s amazing to see them on tour, I think that the main cause of this is because bands are starting to realize that they are running out of time.
Back in July, Black Sabbath reunited for their final show “Back to the Beginning” which was an amazing show that featured the original members of the band. The week after the show, it was announced that the legendary rock’n’roll artist Ozzy Osbourne passed away. Osbourne’s death impacted the rock’n’roll community greatly as he inspired multiple bands and genres.
Since Osbourne’s death multiple rock bands have announced tours for the 2026 year. Although the timing could be a coincidence, I don’t think that’s the case. One example that worries me is Mötley Crüe going on their “Return of the Carnival Sins” 2026 tour. In 2022 I saw Mötley Crüe during their stadium tour where they performed alongside Joan Jett, Poison, and Def Leppard. Although I had fun at the concert, I noticed that a lot of the members, including lead singer Vince Neil did not appear as vibrant as they had in prior years. The band is still going strong, but I think the end of Mötley Crüe and other bands are slowly approaching.
While it seems bands are also starting to notice that they are running out of time, no band has officially announced that it is their last tour. The deaths of iconic performers in the rock’n’roll community have sparked other bands into knowing that their time is running out. With bands beginning their final tours, I hope fans will get rememberable goodbyes to the people that have defined generations of music and culture.
