Tyriq Withers started out as a wide receiver for the Florida State University football team but is now Hollywood’s next up-and-coming actor.
Withers’ most recent online craze started when he portrayed Cameron Cade in the new film, Him. Produced by Jordan Peele and stars Marlon Wayans, the film follows a rising quarterback who experiences a traumatic injury almost ending his career. Cameron gets the opportunity to train with Isaiah White (Wayans), his football hero, at a remote location. Things turn dark as Cameron realizes everything he has worked for, may not all be worth it.
Having seen the film Him, I think Withers has great range. His background in football gave him a great leg-up, which was perfectly displayed in this film. His acting is compelling and does a fantastic job at portraying emotional vulnerability. Although the script lacks and the plot leaves you with unanswered questions, Withers’ acting stands out and keeps you watching.
Withers has also starred in the remake of a slasher classic, I Know What You Did Last Summer, which premiered in July and starred some Hollywood big names like Madeline Cline and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Withers is set to star in the new adaptation of Reminders of Him, a book written by Colleen Hoover, that is to be released in 2026 starring Rudy Pankow and Lauren Graham.
With the release of Him, Wither’s press junket has stirred some online attention. Withers was seen on Brittany Broski’s show “Royal Court” which brought in a new audience. Withers was on the Jennifer Hudson Show, a show famous for their TikToks of celebrities dancing down a hall before going on the show. Withers had a viral video of him dancing down this hall like a dolphin. He also made his first late-night appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, on Sept. 26.
After all of the interviews, Withers has gained lots of attraction from the Gen Z community. Withers’ quirkiness and humor have warmed the hearts of many. Watch out for Withers as he will soon take over the big screen.
