Hands on art

“Intrinsic Preservation, External Impermanence,” a show by WSC faculty member Thomas Dahlseid, will be in exhibition in the Nordstrand Visual Arts Gallery running from now until Feb. 18.

Dahlseid’s exhibit focuses on Buddhist ideas of impermanence, describing life as constantly in a state of flux. His own experience is the focus of his work. He presents this in the form of a Buddhist Gau, which is a small prayer box with and item or sacred image inside it. These objects are meant to keep bad spirits away or serve as items of contemplation throughout the day.

Dahlseid’s objects aresignificant to him personally or tell stories that have impacted him.

The show is available for viewing Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Nordstrand Visual Arts Gallery on the second floor of the Peterson Fine Arts Building.
