The annual President’s Holiday Gala will take place on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. in Ramsey Theater.

This will be President Marysz Rames’ first Gala as president of the college.

The Gala is an annual event that presents a 70-minute program, including various WSC ensembles such as the Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Show Choir, Chorale, Crazy 8, Jazz Band, Madrigal Singers, Concert Choir, Black Box Trio and other musical groups.

The concert will also feature various solos by Wayne State music faculty and students, as well as duets, trios and sing-a-long carols.

“It’s always such a wonderful showcase of ensembles and holiday cheer,” staff accompanist Phil Pfaltzgraff said. “It’s just a nice, feel-good time.”

The holiday decorations have become more extensive in the atrium and in the hall, according to Pfaltzgraff.

The new decorations include four six-foot trees, garland and a twelve-foot tree complete with lights, bulbs and a topper.

“This year’s decorations are absolutely beautiful and classy and will make the Gala that much better for everyone who attends,” Laura Robinett, Fine Arts office assistant, said.

Reserved parking is available in lot 7, and a new shuttle service will be available from parking lot 10 to Fine Arts from 1-2 p.m. and following the concert from 3:15-4:20 p.m.

Doors open at 1:30 with a prelude performance by the WSC Low Brass Studio and Keyboard Ensemble. A dessert buffet will follow in Frey Conference Suite in the Kanter Student Center.
