Dangers of Nerf guns

Around this time of year, there are students sprinting building to building with white bands around their arms, with someone always in pursuit. That would be the annual Humans versus Zombies activity that takes place. It is a campus-wide event that is mostly taken over by the Sci-Fi club.

However, things are going to be a little different this year. Every year, the club was allowed to use Nerf guns, with no modifications allowed. According to the Sci-Fi president Landon Norquest, the rule with Nerf guns is that they have to be straight out of the box with no changes.

Campus security has allowed this in the past. However, security went to the administration, who decided to ban the use of Nerf guns. There are concerns of these toys being mistaken for a real gun, so WSC is not allowing the use of them until further notice.

Norquest has said that there have been no complaints or anything that he knows of in the time of the Nerf guns.

“There are a lot of safety precautions we take so no one gets hurt,” Norquest said. “We also put signs up around the campus to warn other students that there’s going to be people running around and we always make sure that people know.”
