Go Greek
January 30, 2014
When you think of a sorority or fraternity, what do you think of?
Most likely, what you see on television shows and movies.
The sororities and fraternities at Wayne State College are not like those.
Here at WSC, our Greek organizations symbolize something more than partying.
To me, my sorority (Zeta Tau Omega) is like a family away from home, and the girls of Theta Phi Alpha and the boys of Tau Kappa Epsilon would probably agree with me.
When you’re having a no good, very bad day, they are there for you no matter what. They always have a shoulder, if you need to cry, they always have a hug when you need it and they’re always there to celebrate when something good happens.
We participate in at least one philanthropy per month, if not more. It feels good to give back to others.
We all participate in the Greek Olympics, which is a great way to get us all together and have a friendly competition.
Each organization has its own formal. Lets be honest: who doesn’t like getting all dressed up and having a good time with some of their best friends and their significant others? I haven’t gone to my sorority formal yet. So this will be my first one. But I did go to the TKE formal last year and it was such a blast.
Now I know that all of this may not seem all that special, but you really can’t know how awesome Greek life is until you join. Each organization is going through rush week until Thursday. If you are sincerely interested in learning more about Greek life, you should check out our posters and come to one of our events.
Trust me, you won’t regret it.
These girls or guys will be friends you have for life.
