Three players have been named to the NSIC Women’s Basketball All- Conference Team.

Senior forward Jordan Spencer was a first-team selection and also named to the All-defensive team.

Senior guard Ashton Yossi was selected to the second team, and freshman standout Maggie Schulte was named All-Freshman team.

Spencer who graduated from Millard West, played Division I basketball at UNO before playing for WSC. She dominated for the Cats all season, averaging 15.3 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game (the most on the team).

“It’s a great honor and I’m appreciative, but I want to win a championship,” Spencer said.

With the skill level Spencer plays at, she could be playing elsewhere after her collegiate career.

“I would consider trying out overseas, but I haven’t given it much thought because I’m focused on this season,” Spencer said.

Yossi, who is from Dallas Center, Iowa, started for WSC as a true freshman. She averages 12.8 points and 2.2 steals per game.

“It’s a rewarding accomplishment but like I’ve said before, I care more about our team accomplishments,” Yossi said.

She has done her duty here at WSC, leading the team in three-pointers made, all-conference honors and joined the all-time scoring list.

“One thing that motivates me is that the more games we win, the longer I get to keep playing the sport I love with my WSC family,” Yossi said.

Schulte is from Wynot, where she won four class D2 state championship titles in high school. She averaged 18.2 points and 6.8 rebound per game her senior year.

“It’s an honor to be chosen out of a great group of freshman,” Schulte said.

Now the four-time state championship winner is averaging almost 25 minutes on a Division II basketball team.

“I just wanted to come in and do my part to help the team win and be successful,” Schulte said.

Averaging 7.4 points and 5.2 rebounds a game is not too shabby for a true freshman.
