Two WSC seniors finish athletic careers

The men’s basketball team went up against North Division rival Minnesota State University, Moorhead in the first round of the NSIC tournament last Wednesday.

The Dragons ended up on a 17-3 run over the last five minutes to take the 89-60 win, ending the Wildcat’s season.

The Wildcats finished with a 7-22 record going 4-18 in conference play and 5-8 in Rice auditorium.

Coach Brian Dolan’s squad were led by two seniors, Gary Ross and Patrick Kurth.

Kurth, the 6’9” center from Sioux City North, had a career high with 29 against the University of Sioux Falls, while averaging just over 13 points a contest. He also was selected to the NSIC Winter All-Academic team the last two seasons.

Kurth is majoring in exercise science with both coaching and business minors.

Ross is a transfer point guard who played his first two seasons at Indian Hills Community College. The Kansas City native tied both his career high of four assists and five rebounds three times this season.
