Sequins, spotlights and a night full of drag was supposed to happen Tuesday, Jan. 27. Instead, Wayne State College CatPAC organization announced three hours before the drag show that it was postponed.  

“Due to the severe winter weather sweeping across the nation, our host for tonight’s Willy’s Lip-Sync Extravaganza had their flight canceled. The Wildcat Programming and Activities Council is working to reschedule the event. We will let you know once a new date has been confirmed,” CatPAC said in the email that was sent to students. 

Mason Chamberlain and Anja Oelofse are the two members of CatPAC who organized the drag show. The day of the show, Chamberlain was sick at his apartment when he got notified about the cancelation. 

“I was notified that the drag show was canceled by Anja via text on Snapchat, but I think she was notified from our boss, Cody,” Chamberlain said. “I think it was just an email, most likely from Kori King’s manager, because we haven’t been in direct contact with Kori King.”  

Chamberlain said it will be a process to reschedule because of Kori King’s scheduele and booking Ramsey theatre.   

“We are trying to see if we can get it scheduled as soon as possible,” Chamberlain said. “The main factor, is if Kori King can come back, when she can come back and aside from that, we have to book out the spaces that we’re having the events at before we do them.”   

Hannah Scribner, a contestant for the show, was busy when she found out it was postponed.   

“I was actually getting ready,” Scribner said. “I had glued my eyebrows down and I got a notification on my phone. I went and looked, and I got an email from Outlook saying it was rescheduled. So, I was a little bit shocked.”   

Scribner had mixed feelings on the cancelation.  

“It was a little frustrating because I was really looking forward to it,” Scribner said. “But also, at the same point I understand it has been really bad weather, very cold, so flights being canceled, that’s something we can’t control.”
