The WSC Career Services office will be cut down and consolidated with the Holland Academic Success Center next semester, in the fall of 2026.
In the fall 2025 semester, the employees of Wayne State College Career Services and other members of faculty were notified of significant changes to the WSC Office of Career Services. Beginning next semester, Career Services will be combined with the Holland Academic Success Center, located on the second floor of Conn Library.
The intention of WSC is to house all academic and career advising in the same location and give current staff of the Holland Academic Success Center a longer list of responsibilities. This will include the current duties of two members of staff working for Career Services. For the fall 2026 semester, these two positions will no longer be offered to the individuals who remain under WSC contract through the end of this semester.
The combination of the two offices is a consolidation of the Academic Services and Support department on campus, as it is identified by its corresponding WSC webpage.
The Holland Academic Success Center provides many services to the students at WSC, such as tutoring, class scheduling, freshman advising, and advising for any other students who would like to take advantage of the office.
Cutting down on Career Services as a whole means having fewer employees in the department. Due to the administrative change, two current WSC employees will not have their contracts renewed over the summer. After June 30, 2026, Tracy Lungrin, Director of Workforce and Career Services and Phil Myer, Assistant Director of Career Services, will no longer be employed by WSC.
“Although this was unexpected, I appreciate having time to plan my next steps,” Myer said.
Informing their fellow faculty of the administrative decision not to renew their contracts, each expressed gratitude for their time here at WSC.
“I am grateful for the collaboration, conversations, and shared commitment to student success that I’ve experienced during my time here,” said Myer.
Lungrin is currently in her third year here at WSC. She described her time with the students and staff at WSC as one of the highlights of her career.
“I will leave with many wonderful memories of partnership, innovation, meaningful conversations, and the exceptional people who make this campus so special,” said Lungrin. “It has been an honor to serve you and to be part of this community.”
