Great players make great plays

Senior forward Jordan Spencer made the game-winning layup Saturday with 12 seconds left to keep Wayne State in first place in the NSIC.

The thrilling layup wasn’t originally drawn for Spencer to score, but she took things into her own hands.

“Millie was supposed to set a flare screen to free up Ashton for the shot; I saw an open lane to the hoop and time was running out,” Spencer said.

The Lady Wildcats now have a two-game lead in the NSIC standings over Northern State. Also, they improved their winning streak to 12 games. But it wasn’t easy, the back and forth action included several lead changes.

“We should win out the regular season games, as long as we stay focused in film and take it one game at a time,” Spencer said.

The Wildcats host Sioux Falls Friday night, trying to improve their winning streak to 13 games.
