It’s wild to think we’re finally here. Senior year is wrapping up, and graduation is right around the corner and a whole chapter of our lives is coming to a close. Everything we’ve worked for, stressed over, laughed through and cried about has all led to this moment.
But before we cross that stage and set off into whatever lies ahead, Wayne State College is offering the Class of 2025 one final week to take it all in. Senior Week has arrived, and it’s not just about activities. It’s also an opportunity to truly slow down, look around and create some lasting memories with the individuals we’ve shared the past four years with.
It all starts the Monday morning of April 28, with Senior Sunrise. From 6-8 a.m., we’ll meet up at the bonfire pit to kick off the week together. Yeah, it’s early, and let’s be honest—most of us aren’t exactly morning people. But there’s something poetic about watching the sun rise on one of our last days as college students. The activity will be complimentary, and breakfast will be provided, so you can roll out of bed, throw on a hoodie, and get a peaceful moment before the day officially begins.
If you’re going for the symbolism or just for the grub and the vibe, it’s a great way to kick off Senior Week with the individuals who’ve been by your side.
On Tuesday, we’re switching things up with a creative twist. “Dear Future Me” is on April 29 from 5-8 p.m. in the Niobrara Room of the student center. It’s all about memory-making and self-reflection. You’ll have the chance to create a scrapbook full of senior year memories, write a letter to your future self, and construct something unique that you can look back on in years to come.
It’s like a time capsule—you may not recall some of the little things years later, but this is a way to keep them with you. Whether you want to decorate the pages or just hang out with friends and browsing, this event is completely relaxed.
On Wednesday, April 30, we close out the week with the Senior Send-Off from 6-8 p.m. It will be held at the Peterson Fine Arts Building. It’s the final party for the Class of 2025. One final opportunity to laugh, reflect and perhaps even cry with the individuals who’ve been along for the ride through the highs and lows of life as a college student. There will be funky, retro vibe, with music, photo shoots and plenty of time to kick back and absorb it all. Dress up to get a few photos and say goodbye—or at least “see you later”—to the crew that helped you make it through.
Senior Week isn’t just a string of events, it’s a way to honor everything we’ve been through together. From late nights in the library and early morning classes to game days, coffee runs, dorm life and spontaneous road trips—these are the moments that made up our college experience. And even though the ending is bittersweet, this week gives us a chance to celebrate it the right way.
