The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) will be hosting a Chili Cookoff fundraiser on Thursday, April 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Center for Applied Technology (CAT) building atrium on the WSC campus.
This fundraiser is open to the public. WSC students, faculty and staff as well as anybody in the Wayne community can compete or judge. There is no price for competing because all ingredients and cooking supplies are supplied by the competitors. Judges can pay $3 for a small bowl, $5 for a medium bowl or $7 for a large bowl.
“[This fundraiser] was done a couple of years before,” Nicolas Tagliafichi, the president of ACM, said. “Our advisor, when we started talking about fundraising, was like, ‘Hey, we used to do this really cool event you should take a look at.’”
Thus, planning started for the chili cookoff.
“My coworkers that were apart of ACM as students told me about it, and I was like ‘that seems pretty fun’,” Tagliafichi said.
Tagliafichi also said they would like to continue this event through the years but host it when the weather gets colder when people are more in the mood for chili.
People can still sign up to compete. QR codes are placed throughout campus and Wayne. ACM is accepting signups through the time of the event starting at 11 a.m. Anyone interested in judging can simply show up to the CAT building first floor, pay for a bowl and enjoy some homemade chili from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 17.
