Wayne State College held its annual Spanish Visit Day, or “Dia de Familia,” last Sunday, April 5. The event was held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and was intended for Spanish-speaking students and their families to be guided through the various aspects of WSC, exclusively in Spanish.
According to the WSC Admissions Facebook page, information about admissions, scholarships and financial processes is explained in Spanish on this day. Attendees watch a presentation and share experiences before ending the event with a campus tour.
The purpose of this special visit day is to offer a chance for families to listen to all WSC has to offer. The day is catered more towards the parents than students due to a majority of bilingual high school students, but having family members who would prefer to have information given to them in Spanish. This day offers more of an understanding of what WSC stands for along with all the resources it provides to all of its students.
According to Leah Bennett, who wrote an article diving into WSC’s Spanish Visit Day back in October 2023, this event offers bilingual students the opportunity to share their experiences during the panel, answering questions the families or high school students have.
Visitors learn more about what the campus has to offer, and families can be more involved in the college process with their child.
