CatPAC is hosting the “How I Love Being a Woman” event on March 19 from 7-9 p.m. in the Frey Suite.
During this event, students will be able to eat desserts and attend a tea party and spa night. There will also be crafts for students to do throughout the evening. Gabriella Chamberlain, CatPAC event planner, said this event is to celebrate Woman’s History Month.
This event is a combination of two of last year’s events: the “Tea Party” and the “Girls Night In.” The activities were chosen to show women on campus that they are valued.
“We are a group of women working at CatPAC, so obviously, this month is important to us, so putting on an event to honor all the other women on campus and to remind them that they are appreciated on campus, I think that’s important,” Anja Oelofse, CatPAC event planner, said.
Along with celebrating women, the event will focus on being a fun, relaxing experience.
“I feel like sometimes we get a little too busy in schoolwork and stuff, so this is a great event to get your girls and have a fun hangout with them,” Oelofse said.
While the activities are catered towards women, you do not have to be a woman to attend this event. Oelofse said she hopes people can relax and reconnect with their childhood self.
“I feel like the crafts and stuff we do, it reminds me of when I was a kid and had no worries in the world, so that’s what I hope people can achieve is just to relax and hang out with their friends,” Oelofse said.
The goal of this event and other CatPAC events, Chamberlain said, is to unite students.
“I feel like a lot of it is when you come to college, you might not know people and you might feel alienated, and so with events like this, we want to try to get people together so they can feel less alone,” Chamberlain said.
Chamberlain said students can sometimes be hesitant to attend CatPAC events. But spending time at these events are a good way to have a fun evening and meet new people.
“Come to the events,” Chamberlain said. “I think when I was a freshman, at the beginning, I did not want to go so much because I was like ‘this is so lame’ but they are really fun, and you can meet a lot of really cool people.”
