CatPAC is hosting “Get in Tune” on March 6 at 7 p.m. in the Frey suite
CatPAC, formerly known as SAB, is helping students unwind, relax and reflect with this event. “I am excited for this event so that people reconnect with their physical selves,” Gabriella Chamberlain, CatPAC Event Planner, said. CatPAC has made sure that there will be activities for all to enjoy, ranging from guided yoga to making essential oil bracelets to vision boards. The event is for everyone, including students who are already into wellness, as well as those who are looking to try yoga or meditation for the first time.
“I want to give students an experience where they are able to kind of just unwind and practice mindfulness,” Alondra Castillo, CatPAC Event Planner, said.
The main activity at “Get in Tune” will be guided meditation and yoga. “I’m hoping the meditation will be 10 minutes and the yoga will be about 15 to 20 minutes. Not too long, and definitely beginner level,” Castillo said. “We’re getting all of our resources just from YouTube, it’s more cost-efficient and wouldn’t be as intimidating to beginners.” CatPAC will providesome yoga mats but encourages those who want to partake to bring a towel in case the yoga mats run out.
If yoga or meditation isn’t your thing, there are many other mindful crafts at this event to get you zen. There will be vision board crafting using old magazine cutouts to set your intention for what you want to achieve this new year. They will also have essential oil jewelry.
“There’s jewelry with little pockets you can put essential oil in there, sniff it, and de-stress,” Castillo said.
Castillo is the main trailblazer who is planning this event. “I’m excited to see how meditation will impact the attendees,” Castillo said. She was inspired to plan the event as she attended a similar event her freshman year. “It was definitely one of the most fun events I went to that year, and I didn’t realize how much I liked yoga until I actually took a yoga class in a shared environment,” Castillo said.
The CatPAC team is ready and excited to help students blow off some steam
“I want people to be able to just take time away from all the stress of their daily life and just be able to sit back and relax and take care of themselves,” Chamberlain said.
