The Stoplight Dance, which was hosted by the WSC Drama Club, took place on Feb. 7th in the Black Box theater, and was attended by many students.
Anna Mayes, the president of the WSC Drama Club, said that close to 120 students were present at the dance.
While many drama club members were present, not all of the attendees were part of the drama club. Many students who attended the dance study different majors and belong to different clubs. The event was open to any students who wanted to have a good time and meet new people.
Ethan Knight, the vice president of the drama club, described the event as “a way for the drama club to get everyone on campus involved.”
Knight also mentioned how the dance was an event that encouraged students to meet new people in a fun environment.
People attending the event are encouraged to wear one of three colors: green, yellow or red. If someone wears green, it lets people know that they are single and not in any kind of relationship. If a person wears yellow, it means their relationship status is complicated. If a person wears red, it means that person has a partner. If someone wanted to come to the party but did not want to express their relationship status or was not interested in finding a date, they could wear purple.
The dance could be described as a fun event for students, by students.
Knight also said how the drama club organized committees for other club members to help organize and set up the event.
These committees let club members get experience with organizing and contributing to events the club puts on. Members of the club helped hang decorations and set up tables and activities like the photo booth.
