The Cocoa and Carols concert will be put on by the Wayne State College choirs on Friday, Nov. 6 and Saturday, Nov. 7.
All four WSC choirs will be performing at the event, held in the Dr. Ray Kelton Instrumental Hall in Peterson Fine Arts. The Nov. 6 performance will begin at 7:30 p.m., and the Nov. 7 performance begins at 4 p.m. The show will include performances from the Chamber choir, Concert choir, Lyrica, the soprano/alto choir, Fortis, tenor/bass choir and will conclude with a Choral Union, where all choir members will perform three pieces.
The Lyrica Treble choir will be performing “Deo Gracias,” and “Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella.” Fortis will be doing a rendition of “Little Drimmer Boy/ Peace on Earth,” by Bing cosby and David Bowie as well as “Ning-Ga-Lay-A.”
A quintet, consisting of Katrina Lombard, Tyler Baue, Riley Gausman, Ethan Gibben and Homecoming royalty, Bre Matzen, will perform an acapella version of “Mary Did You Know,” by Pentatonix.
Other pieces performed by chamber and concert choirs are “With Me with You,” and “Hurting Each Other,” which are jazz carols, as well as “Christmastime is Here,” from “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”
The Choral Union pieces are “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” “Noel, Sing we Noel” and “Peace, Peace,” which has the addition of the classic Christmas carol, “Silent Night.”
The choirs will also be welcoming two high school groups on either night. On Nov. 6, the Wayne High School Jazz Choir will perform, and on Nov. 7, the Sioux City West High School Madrigals will perform
Tickets for the two Cocoa and Carols concerts went on sale in early November and can be purchased through Nov. 29, with no refunds or exchanges. Tickets are $12 per person.
