LifeServe Blood Center is hosting multiple blood drives in the surrounding area to help with critically low blood supplies.
The Wayne Daily News reported that local hospitals are critically low in the blood types 0-, A+ and B-. LiveServe Blood Center is encouraging everyone to ‘Give One More in ‘24’.
“Every two seconds, someone needs a lifesaving blood transfusion,” LifeServe’s website reports.
Kim Dietrich, the territory representative of Sioux City for LifeServe, is running multiple blood drives for the rest of the year to try to receive more blood.
“It is important to get the word out about the importance of blood donation,” Dietrich said.
All blood donated through LifeServe goes back into the local communities where the blood drive was hosted. LifeServe is also a part of “The we Give Blood Drive”.
“This fall, you can help fight the greatest blood shortage in a generation [facing] the largest blood donation competition in our lifetime,” LifeServe’s website says.
This fall, Abbott and the Big Ten Conference are calling all students, alumni and fans to rebuild the nation’s blood supply by pitting schools against each other in a conference wide blood donation.
At any blood drive hosted by LifeServe, a participant needs to submit proof of donation to bigten.org/abbott and include a selfie of your donation experience. One person will receive tickets to the Big Ten Championship game, and the winning school receives a $1 million grand prize.
Upcoming blood drives will be located at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington on Nov. 21 from 12:30-6 p.m., Providence Medical Center on Nov. 25 from 11:30-3:30 p.m. and at the Wayne Fire Hall on Nov. 27 from 12-5 p.m.
