The Majestic Theater has some movies for Wayne State College students to enjoy before some go away on fall break.
The Majestic Theater, located at 310 Main St. in Wayne, has three movies for WSC students to enjoy before many go home for break. They’ll be showing “White Bird” Nov. 7-10, “Venom: The Last Dance” Nov. 14-17 and “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” Nov. 29-Dec. 1. There will be no movie on Nov. 28 in recognition of Thanksgiving Day. Their Halloween movie this year was “Smile 2”, which they played Oct. 31-Nov. 3. The movies are shown on Thursdays and Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
WSC students get four free movie tickets every semester. This semester they be used up to Friday, Dec. 13. They can pick them up at the student activities office on the lower level of the student center between 8:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office requires a student ID to pick up and sign off on the tickets. Once the fall semester is over, students can pick up four new tickets for spring in January.
While using the tickets, students can check out the new mural at the theater that was painted behind the concession counter.
“White Bird” was released in 2023 and is rated PG-13. This movie’s cast includes Bryce Gheiser and Helen Mirren. This movie is ultimately a sequel to the book turned movie, “Wonder” by R. J. Palacio. This movie follows Auggie Pullman’s bully, Julien Beaumeier, after getting expelled for the way he treated Auggie. His ways were changed when he was visited by his grandmother, who tells him the story of her attempts to escape Nazi-occupied France.
“Venom: The Last Dance” is the third installment about the iconic Spider-Man villain. Rated PG-13, Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock/Venom, who he played in the last two films. Eddie and Venom are on the run in both worlds and must make a decision that could mean the end of their partnership.
“Best Christmas Pageant Ever” is rated PG and stars Lauren Graham, known for the show “Gilmore Girls”. This movie is based off the children’s book by Barbara Robinson. It follows the interruption of the town’s annual Christmas performance by six of the town’s worst youngsters.
