The Blue Cat Gallery & Studio organized an art exhibit fundraiser for animal shelters in Wayne County.
The exhibit began on Aug 30 and is available until Nov 2. “It’s just been a really well received exhibit,” owner and director of Blue Cat Gallery & Studio, Carolyn Albracht said. The event included a cat cafe with both commissioned and gifted art pieces available for purchase. The proceeds from the cat cafe will be given to Winside Wayward Cats and Crazy Cat Lady Lifestyle. Total earnings of the cat cafe exceeded $1000, which Albarcht said didn’t include separate donations made to the shelters through apps like Venmo.
“The cat cafes were really well attended,” Albracht said. The cafe was available until Oct 26, and all free-will donations went to supporting the shelters.
Winside Wayward Cats and Crazy Cat Lady Life are in Wayne County. Winside Wayward Cats focuses on trap-neuter-vaccinate-return, or TNVR, and adoption for eligible cats according to their Instagram page.
Albracht said the artwork is now the focus of the gallery, including pieces featuring dogs, horses, turtles and cats. “The pieces are available for purchase and can be found at the gallery for those interested,” Albracht said. “All of these were essentially already purchased when the owners of the animals got in touch with the seven artists that I had contacted who agreed to take commissions,”
The exhibit will be available until Nov 2. The gallery’s business hours are Fridays from 1 P.M. to 5 P.M. and Saturdays from 10 P.M. to 5 P.M.
