You may have heard the phrase, “There’s no party like a Diddy party!” and been easily mistaken.
A Diddy party isn’t a party most would want to be at, and frankly, they’re parties which should’ve have stopped sooner.
Sean Combs, also known as “Diddy,” or “P-Diddy,” is an American rapper and record producer, as well as the host of these parties. His parties were full of alcohol, celebrities, sex workers, illegal drugs and “freak offs,” which were elaborately produced sex performances that Combs arranged, directed, masturbated during, and often recorded.
Even though jokes are currently circulating the media about Combs and the entire case built up against him, it’s not something to be joking or laughing about.
Combs is currently under investigation for numerous allegations, though he should have been under investigation much sooner. Since 1990, and potentially going back even further, Combs has allegedly been participating in many acts of sexual assault, rape, sex trafficking, criminal possession of weapons, harassment and forcing the use of illegal drugs.
All of these things happened both at his parties and outside of his parties. No matter where he was or what he was doing, Combs was a threat, which many celebrities and other individuals in attendance never even realized.
Attorney Tony Buzbee is currently representing 120 accusers with allegations against Combs, some cases going back 20 years.
According to NBC News, Combs is accused of: “violent sexual assault or rape, facilitated sex with a controlled substance, dissemination of video recordings [and] sexual abuse of minors.”
Combs is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. If found guilty, he faces a minimum of 15 years behind bars and a maximum sentence of life in prison. Currently, he’s posted at a $50 million bail.
While there are many cases to be considered dating back two decades, one of the biggest ones to take note of is the lawsuit filed by Combs’ ex-girlfriend last November.
Casandra Ventura brought to light the danger and intensity of this individual when she accused him of physical and sexual abuse and sex trafficking over the entire course of their long-term relationship. The suit exploded and encouraged other individuals to make their experiences with Combs public, including three other women who are now accusing the artist of sexual abuse. A surveillance video showing Combs brutally beating Ventura in the hallway of a Los Angeles hotel leaked, serving as evidence for Ventura’s lawsuit.
Some of the celebrities believed to be attending the parties were Ashton Kutcher, Jennifer Lopez, Paris Hilton, Mariah Carey, Usher, Kim Kardashian and Jay-Z, just to name a few.
Selma Fonseca, a celebrity photographer, was a regular of Combs parties, attending anywhere from 20 to 30 Diddy parties throughout her career. It was because of a specific party in 1999 she decided to open up about the dangers of these parties, especially for children who were often in attendance.
Since children were often present at the parties, Combs eventually began sending them away when things were about to get too crazy for them to be present. Fox News Digital obtained a video in which Combs advises parents “put the kids away.”
“We fed y’all, gave y’all some drinks. Now it’s time to enjoy life,” Combs said in the video. “This is a celebration of life. This is the legendary white party. And to all the kids, the kids have an hour left…because this thing turns into something that when ya’ll get older, y’all are going to want to come to.”
According to NBC News, more than 3,000 individuals have come to Buzbee’s office with accusations against Combs, and within the next 30 days, Buzbee will begin filing even more lawsuits.
Twenty-five of these individuals were minors at the time of the alleged incidents, some as early as 1991, when one of the accusers was 9 years old.
Personally, I question whether the children present at the parties actually left the premises. If they did leave, where were they sent to? Did Combs have them go to a separate room in his mansion or send them back to their homes?
“It was like a mini circus,” Fonseca said in an article by the New York Post. “There was a lot of champagne going around and everything else. You could have whatever you wanted.”
Fonseca further explains that while celebrities and children were commonly in attendance, it was far more common to see sex workers and women in revealing clothes dancing around.
“Anywhere there are rich and famous people, there are sex workers around,” Fonseca said. “There were women in very skimpy outfits walking around, dancing on top of pedestals. But that’s like something he just wanted, just to entertain people.”
As serious of a case as this is, it’s something to be taken seriously and be joked about. It’s a case that makes us realize how easily perpetrators can be hiding right under our noses. Even if we’re not directly affected by Combs and what went down at his parties, that doesn’t take away the facts of the situation and how many individuals were hurt by his actions.
