Fall weather means lots of fall attractions happening around the Wayne area. If you are looking for a fun fall season activity here are the five attractions in the surrounding area.
- Poppy’s Pumpkin Patch
If you are looking for a fun small pumpkin patch that is close by, Poppy’s Pumpkin Patch in Norfolk, Nebraska is the place to go. Poppy’s is a family-owned business that sells home-grown pumpkins and gourds while offering family-style entertainment at a reasonable cost. As their website states, it is an adventure for the young and young at heart. They have 20 attractions, most are guided more toward the younger age, but they have delicious food and a corn maze. They are open now through Oct. 30. Admission into the farm is $12 and they are open Tuesday-Wednesday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursday-Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Vala’s Pumpkin Patch
Vala’s Pumpkin Patch is one of the largest pumpkin patch options in Nebraska. It is located in Gretna, Nebraska, and has the most attractions available. They have over 50 attractions including hayrack rides, train adventures, jumping pillows, slides, a zipline, a haunted corn maze and much more. There is an apple orchid on the farm that customers can take a hayride out to and pick apples. Vala’s is open now through Nov. 3. Admission is $20 Monday – Thursday and $36 Friday – Sunday. The patch is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
- Scarecrow Farms
Located 4 miles outside of Sioux City, Iowa, Scarecrow Farms is another small family-friendly pumpkin patch that is perfect for a little weekend of fall fun with your friends. The farm is located on 30 acres where you can pick pumpkins, go in the 5-acre corn maze and eat the homemade apple cider donuts. Scarecrow Farms is just an hour drive from Wayne and tickets are $16 for all farm attractions. The farm is open Friday noon–7 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Mazing Acres Pumpkin Patch
Mazing Acres Pumpkin Patch is available for a weekend spent exploring a cute pumpkin patch just an hour away. This patch is run by a small family to have a place where friends and family can come spend quality time together. They are located on 20 acres of land with over 30 attractions. They have a barrel train, jump pillows, a 150-foot slide, an obstacle course, a petting zoo and more. The corn maze is country music singer Luke Bryan themed with a scavenger hunt in it. They are open Saturday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and tickets are $20 at the gate or if you buy online you can save $5.
- Harvest Moon Pumpkin Patch
Located about 45 minutes from Wayne in Oakland, Nebraska, Harvest Moon is a small patch that offers lots of yummy food. Harvest Moon has barrel slides, three racetracks, a jumping pillow, zipline and more. One fun attraction for young adults is their firepit options. For $50 a group can rent a firepit for four hours and wood is provided. Bringing your own food is allowed or can be purchased there. Their opening hours are Tuesday-Thursday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday noon to 6 p.m., and Saturday – Sunday noon to 8 p.m. The admission price is $12.
These five fall attractions are all located about an hour’s drive from Wayne and will all offer a fun fall experience. If you are looking to do more activities, Vala’s Pumpkin Patch would offer the most attractions for the young adult age range but will also be the most expensive option. Overall, all the pumpkin patches have a corn maze, yummy food and a fun weekend adventure for all.
