Wayne State College is coming off a bye week and will be looking defend their home turf as they face the Minot State Beavers for the homecoming game.
The Wildcats looked to be a refreshing and replenished team after the bye week with all focus going to preparing for the Beavers style of play.
“Yeah, I mean, they’re a different opponent on offense,” Bohn said. “They run the triple option and do different stuff on defense. So, I think we just got I think both sides of the ball, just got to do our assignment and I think we’ll work yourself out.”
Linebacker Dexter Larsen, the leading total tackles leader for the Wildcats, emphasized on how Head Coach Logan Masters dives into how the team is feeling ahead of this matchup against Minot State and how the team is dealing with injuries.
“Yeah, I mean, we’ve harped on it, Coach Masters harps on it all the time,” Larsen said. “It’s just the next guy up mentality. Even if you’re not a starter, you should be prep preparing like one, and I think our guys do a great job of that. So, I mean, just having two running backs go down, a true freshman Akeem (Knox) stepped into the game at Winona and played a huge role in that win, and he did great there. So, he embodied that mentality just like everybody else does. So yes, those injuries really hurt our team, but at the same time, we got guys who are willing to step up and who are prepared well enough to be able to step up into their role. “
The Wildcats will to keep their hopes up in the second half of their season after having a three to one win-loss record and looked to defend their gridiron this Saturday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m.
