Many families gathered at Wayne State College for Cat Pac’s Family Day on Sept. 14.
The Cat PAC, formerly known as Wildcat Programming and Activity Council, took on planning this event. Students and staff in charge of Family Day brought in a body artist, balloon artist and a mentalist for entertainment. These activities took place in the Student Center, Planetarium and the Ramsey Theater.
To finish the day off, families went and cheered on the Wildcats football team as they played Minnesota State.
Family members of all ages were allowed and encouraged to attend. The main goal of Family Day was to ensure families had fun and enjoyed their time on campus. The event had been in the making since early spring of this year.
“We actually booked all of the talent we brought in in March,” Amy White, the director of student activities, said.
All of the activities and entertainment were funded by the Cat PAC. Families were offered a chance to eat in the upper dining room or at the tailgate before the game. This organized planning allowed the Saturday afternoon to run smoothly so families could enjoy the day together.
“I really enjoy trying to find different types of entertainment for families to enjoy on Family Day,” White said.
The staff and students who are part of the Cat PAC found it to be a fun experience when collaborating on ideas for days like Family Day.
“We will continue to do Family Day each year,” White said. “It’s an annual tradition, so it’s not going away.”
The positive impact that Family Day had on people showed how important it is for families to spend quality time together. There is no better way to end the summer than with painted faces, balloon animals and many smiles.
