Faculty Spotlight: Michael Marmorstein

Michael Marmorstein will be joining Wayne State College’s faculty.

Marmorstein attended college at Truman University but is originally from Aberdene, South Dakota.

“In my undergraduate years, I attended Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri,” Marmorstein said. “For graduate school, I attended North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota.”

Marmorstein is no longer taking college classes since he graduated with his doctorate degree this summer, and he is getting certified to teach dual credit.

Marmorstein double majored in college and had two degrees, one in math and one in music.

“I double majored as an undergraduate, so I have a degree in music and then a degree in math, and then for my graduate work I did both Math degrees,” Marmorstein said. He will be an assistant professor at Wayne State College helping with Math classes.

Marmorstein said he likes to do several things in Wayne such as walking on the nature trail and hiking around.

“This is my first year here, so I haven’t really explored everything there is to do in Wayne, but I have been singing in a church choir at Grace Lutheran so that has been a lot of fun,” Marmorstein said. “I make a trip out to Norfolk for square dancing.”

Marmorstein has had a great experience at WSC so far.

“It has been great, I love all of my students so far, hardworking, and it has been really satisfying,” Marmorstein said.

Marmorstein is excited to continue his career at Wayne State College, and he cannot wait to keep helping as an assistant professor.
