WSC Basketball Teams Bright Futures Ahead

John Campbell, Sports Editor

After a successful fall season by the football and volleyball squads, Wildcats athletics is already looking promising heading into the winter.

The men’s basketball team sits at an impressive 6-1 to begin their season, while the women are also showing off their dominance, sitting at 4-1.

The men’s squad has been led partially by Jordan Janssen, who averages 20.1 ppg and recently set a record for most career rebounds at Wayne State College. Assisting the charge for WSC also includes Nate Mohr and Justin Eagins, who average 15.3 and 12.3 ppg. Mohr also passed 1,000 career points for the Wildcats, showing he’s been a staple of the success of this program for quite some time.

On the women’s side, it has been Lauren Zacharias who has stepped up big time, averaging 20.1 ppg as well as 4 rpg. Assisting Zacharias in leading the squad to early season success has been Kassidy Pingel and Logan Hughes, who are both averaging 9.8 ppg, respectively.

Both the men’s and women’s squads will be in action in Wayne on Saturday, Dec. 3 at Rice Auditorium where they’re set to take on the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State.
