Women’s Golf Team Recap

The Wayne State College women’s golf team traveled to Larchwood, Iowa, on Oct. 9, to compete in the Augustana Regional Womens Golf Preview.  

The Wildcats tied for third with a total score of 644. Scoring 644, Minnesota State Mankato and WSC placed behind University of Nebraska-Kearny (619) and first place finisher, Augustana University (609).  

In the first day after 18 holes, the Wildcats found themselves in a three-way tie for sixth place with Northwest Missouri State University and Southwest Minnesota State University. After 36 holes, Jazmine Taylor was the front runner for the Wildcats, placing in a tie for 11 with a 36-hole score of 77-80 for a 157 total, the only other Wildcat golfer to match a sub 80 round was Abbey Kurmel.  

Coming in a tie for 24, Kurmel Posted a total score of 163 (86-77). Abigail Broderson, the sophomore from Boone Central, landed in a tie for seventeenth place, opening the first day with an 81 and ending the weekend with a 79. 

The Wildcats faced off against 10 teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and the Division II Central Region, that they will see again in the spring for their championship season.  

On Oct. 17, WSC’s women’s Golf team travels to Maryville, Missouri, to compete in their last contest of the fall season, the Midwest Classic hosted by Northwest Missouri State University.
