Travis Barker’s multi-faceted career since the creation of Blink-182 in August of 1992, has placed him at the epicenter of today’s musical culture. Today, he’s a full-time member of both Blink-182 and Transplants, and the exclusive on-album drummer for Goldfiner.

In 2011, Barker released his first solo album, “Give the Drummer Some” featuring artists like Slash, RZA, and Steve Aoki. The album debuted at number nine on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, and was produced by Barker as well as The Neptunes, RZA, Kool Kojak, Chuck Inglish, Transplants, Kid Cudi, Corey Taylor, and Aoki. In 2019, Barker collaborated with Yungblud, Halsey, Machine Gun Kelly, nothing, nowhere., Pharell and Lil Nas X, among others. Barker is also featured on MGK’s album, “Tickets to My Downfall” and helped create it. Barker has been featured on almost every new trending song since the album’s release.

He’s been featured by so many artists recently because of the pop punk resurgence happening in music. Some have negative feedback about Barker’s features, but he’s backing many of these projects. He’s featured to get more streams on the song, he helps during the writing process, mentoring and even signing artists. Barker made the venture of creating his own record label, DTA Records, in a joint project with Elektra Music Group in 2019. The first release from DTA Records was Barker’s own “Gimmie Brain” featuring Lil Wayne and Rick Ross. In addition to being the founder of his own record company, Barker is the head of LaSalle Records as well.

In an interview with RockSound TV, Barker said, he was looking to build a legacy together with a partner he could trust to carry out a starting artists vision.

“I wanted a label partner that I trusted with true artist development…As an artist, it’s important to me that an artist’s vision is protected at all costs,” Barker said. “It’s crucial that I’m able to look at an artist in the eye and believe it when I say we can take them from a basement to an arena. Elekra’s track record and belief are proof of that, and I’m stoked to continue to build that legacy together through DTA Record.”

Some artists signed to Barker’s label include Avril Lavigne, Jxdn, Machine Gun Kelly and Cooper Noriega.

Barker has been involved in the pop punk genre since the early stages of Blink-182, despite not being the bands original drummer, and has legendary status in the genre’s history. He is someone who has been part of the growth process of the genre and has helped expand it into a wider range of music. Though Barker has taken many different avenues in his career, collaborating with these newer artists, and signing them to his record label has propelled his career farther than just being known for Blink-182.
