Halloween Movie Mash hosted by SAB

Reagan Connelly, News Writing

WSC SAB hosted a Halloween Movie Mash for WSC students on Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Student Center.

Kicking it off with a classic, Ghostbusters (1984) will give you a nice laugh and a catchy jingle stuck in your head. You can get this on Hulu Live Tv subscription or rent it for $2.99 on Amazon Prime Video.

After starting off light with the previous film, jump right into “The Shining (1980).” This physiological horror was based on Stephen King’s book, “The Shining.” Students can find this movie streaming on HBOmax.

Backing off the heavy horror, “Hocus Pocus” is all over social media and many say it is the best Halloween movie of all time! To watch it so you could be a part of the discussion of which is best, you can find this spooky comedy on Disney+.

Next up was 1973’s “The Exorcist.” Now that you have had a quick spook and then a nice laugh, strap yourselves in for this classic! Everyone needs to see this movie at least once in their life! This film isn’t featured in any popular streaming services, so I would recommend renting from YouTube for $2.99.

To recover from this experience, watch Halloweentown (1998). This is wholesome family movie that makes Halloween seem magical again! You can find this on Hulu’s Live TV subscription or Disney+, along with the rest of the series if you are interested!

Some other good movies to watch if one of the previous suggestions doesn’t work out are The Addams Family (1991), It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966), The Omen (1976), and Nightmare on Elm Street (1984).

If movies aren’t your friend group’s forte, then there is another option this year here in Wayne! Take a spooky walk around the Haunted Trail on the WSC fitness trail on Oct 29th-31st from 6-10 p.m.! The event is $5 a person, or $3 for groups over five students. Make sure to dress warm and bring friends! There will be hot chocolate provided!
