Animal Crossing popularity continues
March 4, 2020
Animal Crossing, an open-world video game, will come to the Nintendo Switch on March 20.
The Nintendo company broadcast a 25-minute gameplay episode of Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Youtube, Twitch and Facebook on Feb. 20. According to a Feb. 19 article in “Newsweek,” “Nintendo hasn’t revealed a lot of information regarding Animal Crossing: New Horizons going into this Thursday’s online presentation, but that’s all about to change. The Animal Crossing Nintendo Direct will likely go deeper into new game modes and the online aspects of the Switch game.
Nintendo also teased Nook Inc.’s Deserted Island Getaway Package as being a focal point of Thursday’s Direct. This allows for players to create their own island getaway from scratch, building houses, planting trees and much more.”
According to the video game website polygon.com, “Animal Crossing: New Horizons sends players on an island vacation planned by Tom Nook’s new travel agency.”
The Nook Inc. Deserted Island Getaway Package will fly travelers to a deserted island, where they’ll establish a new life, craft and build custom items, and interact with newcomers as they arrive to the island destination.” This sounds like a fun game and I’d definitely be willing to try it out.
The Nintendo Switch first came to stores three years ago on March 3, 2017.
Since then, many games have been released for this new gaming platform including; Splatoon 2 (2017), Super Smash Bros Ultimate (2018), Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017), and many more. Animal Crossing is another game on the laundry list of games that have been released on a three-year-old gaming system.
I think that people should get excited for Animal Crossing: New Horizons because the Nintendo Switch is still fairly new at only three years old.
We live in a society which is always changing, nothing will stay forever. You only have a few minutes in the limelight and then, you’re replaced by somebody or something else. In this case, Nintendo is a fast-changing company always trying to stay ahead of the curve.
Nintendo has released several gaming systems including the Nintendo 64 in the 1980s, the Nintendo DS and the Wii in the mid-2000s, the Nintendo 3DS in the early 2010s among others. These systems lasted quite a while in the eye of the public, but once something new comes on the shelf, the previous item is erased from existence.
The Nintendo Switch is still new in the eyes of the public. They aren’t willing to forget it yet. As long as new games, like Animal Crossing: New Horizons come out for the Switch, it will be the superior gaming system of the day.
