At Halloween, kids go door-to-door and ask for candy.

But they can also trick-or-treat at the college.

Wayne community kids were able to trick-or-treat at Monster Bash on Oct. 29 at all of the dorms as well as the Student Center. There, clubs had tables full of fun things to do.

Some of the clubs that had tables were Residence Hall Association, Student Activities Board and the counseling club.

At one table, there were pictures the kids could color in and another had a bean bag toss and even a costume contest.

“We wanted to make sure we had somewhat of a different activity to do while they sat waiting to go trick or treating at the different halls,” Asia Berg, S.A.B programmer, said.

There were kids of all sizes and ages, from one to ten.

Everyone dressed up in different costumes, which awed some college students.

Berg thought that a baby in a zombie costume and another in a cow costume were her favorites.

Monster Bash has been a tradition at Wayne State for many years.

“I wanted to keep the tradition going,” Berg said.

Many faculty brought their families. This was one of the reasons Berg considered this year’s Monster Bash a success.

With all the kids running around dressed as different characters, it was hard not to look back on the days when you were a kid running around during Halloween.

“There is a lot of energy. Kids are very excited about seeing the other kids’ costumes and getting the free candy,” Berg said. “They just love the spirit of Halloween, and it is cool to see that come alive. Especially since, as we get older, we forget what it’s like.”

So will Monster Bash continue next year?

“Most definitely,” Berg said.
