‘IT: Chapter 2’ approved by Swallow

Kyle Swallow, Staff Writer

The much anticipated “IT Chapter Two” was released in theaters on Sept. 6.

The movie is based off the popular Stephen King novel “It”. “IT Chapter Two” takes place 27 years after the first encounter with the terrifying clown, Pennywise.

The movie features the same characters but with an older cast.

The movie takes place in Derry, Maine, when all of the kids come back, now as adults.

After making a pact to come back if Pennywise ever returned, Mike Hanlon stayed in Derry while all of the other characters moved on to live their lives but called the group once kids started to disappear again.

The movie takes the audience on plenty of flashbacks so “The Losers Club” can figure out how to kill Pennywise for good.

A popular theme throughout the movie is fear and how you should overcome your fears in life to live it to the fullest.

Another important theme which comes up at the end of the movie is to stand up to your bullies because deep down they are only bullies to make themselves feel better.

Overall, “IT Chapter Two” was great and a good close to the series and helped the audience understand the first movie even more by providing some background on Pennywise and the “Losers Club”.

The movie had a few jump scares but was not as scary as the first movie.

The 2 hour, 50 minute movie kept me entertained throughout.
