The WSC Wildcats collected their first league soccer win of the season, winning against Concordia-St. Paul 3-2 last Sunday and breaking a 10-game losing streak.

Both senior Alex Mathers and freshman Suenly Galvez earned a point in the first half, each assisted by senior Mallory Hoyt.

The first half ended with WSC up 2-0, but the Bears quickly recovered to tie the game within the first 10 minutes of half two.

Forward McKenna Adams, assisted by Hoyt, capitalized on a corner kick, heading the ball into the goal with just one minute left in the game.

Hoyt had two shots and assisted on all three goals to lead a balanced Wildcat effort offensively. Mathers had two shots that included her first goal of the season while Galvez and Adams each produced goals in the Wildcat win The win was well received after a 7-0 loss against number one-ranked Minnesota State one day earlier.

Offensively for Wayne State Josie Brown and Galvez had the two shots for the ‘Cats in the contest.

The Wildcats have the home field advantage this weekend, when they’ll host Minot State on Saturday and Southwest Minnesota on Sunday.
