The men’s cross country team took fourth place at the Mount Marty Invite held at Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton, South Dakota. Sioux Falls got the win with 15 points and the Wildcats found themselves in fourth with 155 total points.

“We were happy with the performance,” head coach Marlon Brink said. “There were a lot of kids who ran good times despite the cold and we set ourselves up well for the NSIC Championships.”

Junior Dylan Kessler placed 18th overall out of a field of 125 runners. He is a junior from Apache Junction, Arizona and he covered the 8,000-meter course in a time of 26:30.

“We are going to cut back on mileage ran at practice,” Brink said. “Less distance at a faster pace for higher intensity because they need to have their best race.”

The ‘Cats have the NSIC Championships in two weeks. They will compete on Saturday, Nov. 3 when the Wildcats travel to Aberdeen, South Dakota.

The men will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday while the women will start at 12:15 p.m.
