WSC Volleyball Blackout Game

The Wayne State College volleyball team hosts the Augustana Vikings Tuesday night at 6 p.m. This is the 13th annual Blackout/Pack the House night, sponsored by the WSC Sports Club PED 411 Sport Marketing class.

Fans attending the game are encouraged to wear black to help create the “Black Hole.” WSC Sports Club traditionally use this night to try to set a new single game attendance record in Rice Auditorium. The top three crowds in history occurred against Nebraska-Kearney in 2010, highlighted by WSC beating UNK 3-2 in front of a school record 1,536 fans. In 2012 the Wildcats knocked off number one ranked UNK 3-1 in front of 1,411 fans. The third largest crowd came in 2006 against UNK with 1,382 fans attending.

WSC students are invited to tailgate at the south doors of Rice Auditorium starting at 3:30 p.m. Free hot dogs and Pepsi products will be handed out. Get there early, as the first 300 students admitted into the game will receive a free T-shirt. Students are reminded to show their college ID’s at the tailgate for a chance to win numerous prizes during the match, including flat screen TV’s.
