Promposal

Drag out your old prom dress, dust off your high school tux and put on your dancing shoes because WSC is having it’s first ever throwback prom.

April 12 from 8 to 11 p.m. is when you can expect to start reminiscing about awkward past prom experiences, because the dance will take place at that time in the Frey Conference Suite.

SAB, Vogue Fashion Association and the Drama Club presents “Under the Sea” Throwback Prom. These clubs came together to put this dance on because many students had requested having a dance that allowed them to dress up.

“If we put our minds together those are three very creative groups that can make something look really cool,” said SAB adviser Sarah Gunion.

Not only are these clubs hosting prom, they are inviting WSC students to participate in a promposal competition. To be entered into the competition you must create a promposal asking a significant other or friend to the prom, video it, post it on Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #WSCpromposal2k18 and tag @WSCSAB. The competition started on March 1 and will go until April 1.

“I like the creativity. I am always amazed at the crazy things students come up with I never would have thought of doing,” said Gunion. “I’m really looking forward to how random and crazy people can get with this.”

The top three couples to win the promposal competition will be able to relive their glory days by being crowned the winners and will be presented with sashes at the dance. The dance is free, and students don’t have to enter the competition to attend the prom.

“There is going to be fun stuff you can get if you come to the prom,” said Gunion, “We’re talking about doing giveaways and swag bags so everybody will get something. It’s just the top three who enter the promposal competition will get crowns and sashes.”

This “Under the Sea” prom is formal, so dress accordingly and be prepared for a night of making new prom memories.
