Trendy truths for the soul

Erika Schwartz, Staff Writer

My entire life I have loved fashion. I’ve never had a friend who has stuck by my side closer than my dresses, shoes, hats, scarves, skirts and accessories. There is nothing like retreating into a closet and letting the arms of couture and clothes encompass you and inhaling a little of that trendsetting smoke. When all else fails, fashion picks me up, dusts me off and makes me look really fabulous while doing it.

(Although, I’ll admit I haven’t always been the best friend to them—leaving my laundry crumpled in the basket for days, possibly weeks, and scattering my shoes from here to Timbuktu. But, I mean, college life, amiright?)

Lately, I have been realizing more than ever how much time and money I spend on fashion, and how much time and money I would still have if it weren’t for fashion. Then I realized: some people save their money, and some people have a fabulous closet. You just can’t have both. Although sometimes I could probably spend my funds and minutes more wisely, I have never regretted a single purchase. Whoever said money can’t buy happiness hasn’t seen me after receiving my delivery from JustFab. After all, life is short and good shoes take you good places.

So, what better way to encourage my fashionista soul than indulging in a “Sex in the City” marathon and listening to advice from the first true fashion icon and pioneer: Carrie Bradshaw.

Here is a list of 15 trendy truths from Ms. Bradshaw that have helped me through my financial fashion hardships and will truly speak to your fashionista soul.
